If you want to backup your virtual disk with a VDI file extension to one of your external storage devices, you can change the disk location in the File Location and Size window. Therefore, to configure the allocation of space on your host disk as much as the guest operating system will need, select the Dynamically Allocated feature and click Next.
This setting improves VM performance a little more but takes up a lot of space on your host disk.
If you configure the virtual disk of your Kali virtual computer as Fixed Size, the space equal to the disk size will be allocated from your host disk. If you do not plan to use your Kali guest machine in any software other than Oracle virtualization software, select the virtual hard disk file type as VDI (VirtualBox Disk Image) and click Next. Since you will install Kali from scratch on the virtual computer you created, check Create a Virtual Hard Disk Now in the Hard Disk configuration and click the Create button. If you have a memory size of 8 GB on your host computer, configure the virtual memory size of your VM as 4 GB and click Next. Vmware workstation pro 14.1.2 build 8497320, I have ensured that VMware Tools is installed on both Linux guest VM'sĪ bit more about the system I am running if it helps I have tried using the Stretch Guest and the Center Guest options but the resolution is not very nice to use, with the black bars around the edges. Workstation changes the scaling to 100% when in console mode, but when going back to full screen the scalling stays at 100%. (This resolution and scale is perfect for my laptop.) The scaling changes when going from full screen mode to console mode. My issue is a scaling issue when using a Linux VM (I have tried Ubuntu and Kali Linux) with the display resolution set to 3840x2160 and a scale of 200%.
